Hong Kong is the place to be for many Filipino travelers. For one, it’s easily accessible and, easy access to Macau. Two, it’s a great shopping place and lastly, you can find the liveliest party scene.
However in my case, it’s different. I went there to celebrate my birthday with my brother as part of my 3-month travel fiasco. We stayed there for a week so we wouldn’t have to crunch our itinerary. Since both of us weren’t a big fan of shopping and partying, we spent it visiting the happiest place on earth, and looking for free (or cheap) things to do around.
And for about a week, we spent hours understanding the map, and walking around HK and Macau just to get to a certain place. It makes me wonder if I lost weight with all the walking. Haha.
Booking a flight to Hong Kong was easy. We waited for promo flight from Cebu Pacific and booked the cheapest flight right away. As for Macau, it’s just one ferry away. đ Hong Kong offers a lot of shopping centers with a variety from high-end to low-end brands. You can find them everywhere! There’s this one thing that I just knew about Hong Kong, the party scene.
There is a specific area where the street is full of bars and some hostels actually offer bar hopping on certain dates for their guest to experience that side of Hong Kong culture. Sadly, I wasn’t able to join any since I am not into those kind of things.
I wasn’t planning in going to Hong Kong. A few of my architect friends were going on the day of my birthday, so I invited myself to their trip. (LOL) When I told my brother about this, he wanted to join me. So we made our own itinerary instead and stayed longer than my architect friends.
I have a love – hate experience in Hong Kong but it’s still the place to be and worthy of being part of the travel bucket list. Who doesn’t want to see this beauty?
Seeing that in person was breath-taking. Which place took your breath away? Would love to hear from you.
Love, J.
