Sinulog Weekend.
The Sinulog-Santo Niño Festival is an annual cultural and religious festival held on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City.
When there’s a festival, there’s always some crazy party somewhere. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend this year’s Sinulog. Although I don’t miss the crowded and crazy streets of Sinulog, I do miss my friends. I miss hanging out with them during Sinulog cause it’s the only time that all of us could hang-out together and being in another country made it worse. So I went to Paris and had my own kind of Sinulog.
I was meeting one of my friends from my theatre group who is now based in London. They came to Paris to celebrate their anniversary as a couple. I came to Paris just to have dinner with them but I decided to stay longer because I never spent enough time to see city.
Besides having dinner with them, I went to see the Louvre Museum, Disneyland Paris, Montmartre, and of course, the Eiffel Tower. By the way, I went to these places alone. Yes, it does sound sad but I had fun. 😉
On my first day, I went to Disneyland. Before my trip, I was already hesitant to go to Disneyland alone. I am usually with my brother when I visit these kind of places. Also, I was supposed to be with my friends but they booked for an earlier date. But I braved the cold and went to Disneyland. I only went to a few rides though, and mostly walked around the park for the rest of the day. After I watched the frozen show, it literally started to snow. It was my first time, and I loved it! After that, I just waited for the fireworks. It was still snowing, by the way. So it was truly a struggle recording it.
The next day, I visited the Louvre. I didn’t realize how big it was until I was inside. I went in and looked for Mona Lisa. It took me awhile to find it and when I did, there were a lot of people! There was sort-of a line to get to the front and see the painting clearly. I roamed around the huge museum for a while, I even found some artists who makes their own interpretation of the paintings exhibited in the Louvre and when I wanted to go out for lunch, I kept getting lost! I tried to find the exit towards the lobby but it seemed that I just keep finding another part of the museum. I did eventually got out and had lunch at one of the restaurants at the lobby.
I still had a few hours to kill before my dinner with my friends, so I decided to go back inside the museum. This time I started on the opposite building, and still the same thing happened to me. I got lost again, trying to find a toilet, which was near the King’s chamber (or was it Napoleon’s? I’m not sure anymore.) Then trying to find an exit because I was running late. I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to get my coat on time. (They have a cloakroom!) But all is well, I got my things and went to my dinner.
On my last day in Paris, I went to see the small neighbourhood of Montmartre. My scheduled train going back home to Bordeaux was 3:28PM. I already allocated time for the sightseeing and lunch. I had a quick-lunch at this small restaurant just outside the metro station. Half way through on my way to the hostel, I realized I left my gloves at the restaurant. The gloves were special because I bought it in Barcelona, and I had to go back for it.
I still went back to the hostel, which is on the opposite side of Montmartre, to get my bag and brought it with me all they way back to the restaurant, and then try to catch my scheduled train. Sadly, I wasn’t able to make it. The train had just left when I arrived, so I bought another ticket and took the next train to Bordeaux. It was draining dragging my bag through Paris, all because I couldn’t leave my precious gloves.
At least I learned to always keep an eye on my things before I leave a place. LOL.
Love, J.

The gloves were special and that’s the caused of missing your train. But that’s okay Jane, if I were you, I would do the same no matter what it takes! I love gloves! I remembered I had my first winter experience in Hanoi and my ex boyfriend bought me very cute gloves and he personally wore it on me. So cute! I bet those gloves are very cute and sure very special!
The gloves were my souvenir from my trip to Barcelona and I couldn’t just let it go. Haha. There are really cute too! 🙂
You had a great time in Paris. The missed train is a small issue when you consider all the great sights and experiences you had. Paris is just so beautiful. We’ve been but you’re pics make us want to return. Thanks.
Then come back! 😉
Beautiful post Jane. There is no point feeling sad when you travel solo. You had a good time I think. I am headed to Paris soon with my family. And both disneyland and louvre are on my list. So, enjoyed your post even more
Have fun!!
This city have something special in it. luckily you missed a train because I literally missed my flight to UK. haha. amazing piece! loved it. cheers
Woah! That must’ve sucked, I guess I was truly lucky 😀
I haven’t attended Sinulog and I always wonder what the fuss is all about. Anyway it looks like you still had fun in your own “sinulog.” I mean wow you went to Disneyland. Haven’t been to any Disney theme park yet. And my god you visited the Louvre! Sometimes I hate going to your blog because it really makes me envious hahaha… France is my ultimate dream destination you see.
I’d like to think that Paris is every girl’s dream 😉
The best part I love in this post is your visit to the museum. I really love the things I find in every museum. It is unique and exquisite. I love going over paintings, pictures, sculptures, and all other things I find inside. 🙂 Is that the original Monalisa painting?
I’d like to believe so 🙂
Disneyland is all time favourite destination since my childhood. Sooner or later would visit this place. Nice information on place.
Quite a memorable trip to Paris. It reminded me I was almost forgetting my camera in one washroom. Realised it in a couple of minutes as if some body part is missing 🙂 Ran back to find it where it was left !!!
Glad you found it right away! 😀
Paris is so lovely, I too would love to get lost amid the beautiful treasures of the Louvre and miss my train or flight! The lure of Paris is so great that one does not want to leave the city and even if one does, one returns again and again.
yes! ❤️
The view of Paris is sooo classy and beautiful Its very instagramable everywhere you look. My bad, I didn’t know that there is a Disneyland in Paris. AHHAHA! Hope I could attend the Sinulog too next time. I haven’t had the chance.
You should go next year! Join a caravan!
This happens with me too! I lose things during my travels, almost always and once I missed a flight! Good to know that I’m not alone lol! But I think if the gloves were special, it was worth doing what you did it!
I think missing the flight is the worst! Haha.
I think such incidents make the trip more memorable otherwise the entire trip would have been so mundane, isn’t it? I am telling this myself for all the buses, trains and flights I have missed!
Thanks for sharing a post I could relate to!
You are very good photographer too!
Thanks Ambuj!
