It’s great to have friends in theatre and film. You get a chance to be a part of their success story.
One crazy wednesday night, Rio De Lizo, who was studying film, was asked to join the 48 Hour Film Project – Singapore three days before the contest began. As for the people who aren’t familiar with the Film Project (like me), it is a wild and sleepless weekend in which a team make a movie – write, shoot, and edit – in just 48 hours. On Friday night, the teams draw a genre from a hat. They are then given a character, prop and line to include in their films. On Sunday night, in a wild dash to the drop off event, the film is turned in – and teams celebrate. The film is then screened at a local theater in front of an audience of filmmakers, friends and families.
Due to the time constraint, Rio asked for my help and I gladly accepted it. This was my first film (ever). I was thankful that Rio helped me with the whole process, from the beginning to the end of filming. I took the role of Ann Walters, the daughter of Dr. Anthony Walters.
It was exciting to hear that we were nominated for BEST FILM and won BEST USE OF CHARACTER. I am so proud that someone I know got recognized for his amazing work. Rio, thank you for being you and for your talent. Dream big and soar high my dear. I know you’ll achieve great things in the future.

Plot outline:
Anthony Walters, a decorated scientist of this millennium finds a way to bring hamsters back to life. After the death of his only daughter Ann Walters, Anthony decides to push his research and studies further. Armed with the memories of his daughter and the unfathomable determination, Anthony finds a way to bring his daughter back to life but he fails after his 1st attempt. He again tries the second concoction and still to no avail, his daughter only lives for a few minutes. Saddened but still filled with hope, Anthony promises his daughter to bring her back to life.
I had so much fun with the crew and learned a lot too from the directors and fellow actor. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience.
Love, J.
Best of luck to your friend in his film career!!! It is NOT easy to script, film and edit a video in just 2 days!!! It’s INSANE actually, that takes extreme talent & focus.
Thank you for sharing this, btw you in that make up!!! Oh Fancy! hehe.
