When you try searching for images in Saint Émilion, every part of the little village is Instagram or Pinterest-worthy. Months before I came here in France, I did a little research about Bordeaux on Pinterest. When I saw Saint Émilion, I instantly fell in love with the photo and dreamed of visiting the place.
Thankfully, I did have the chance to visit this wonderful place. My school organised a field trip and I signed up for it right away. They arranged everything, the transportation and the wine tastings or dégustation.
Dégustation is the careful, appreciative tasting of various foods, focusing on the gustatory system, the senses, high culinary art and good company.
It was a rainy cold morning and when we arrived at the village, it was foggy. I was freezing! First stop on our itinerary was a wine tasting in Les Cordeliers. We got a taste of their different kinds of champagnes and sparkling wines. Also, they showed us their underground cellars and passages. After that, the school let us explore the little village on our own.
We went to see the Clocher de l’Eglise de Monolithe and the Eglise Collégiale. We had lunch at a small yet elegant restaurant called Amelia Canta. Afterwards, we bought some local wines and the special macarons, and headed back to our bus. As for our last stop, we visited another wine tasting at Château Haut-Veyrac.
Though I wasn’t able to visit all of Saint-Émilion’s hidden treasure, I was definitely excited to see the spot where the Pinterest photo was from.
I would certainly come back again next time.
Love, J.
I love the narrow streets and the historic look of this place, Jane!
It’s just so beautiful to get lost in this place!
I cannot begin to say how envious I am to you. I mean you have access to all these beautiful places that I have always been dreaming of visiting. And ou are right, the places look like those you can see from Pinterest. I would be camera happy when I get there.
There is so much more to see of Saint Émilion but I just didn’t have enough time. Maybe next time when I go back, I should be more ready 🙂
I was fortunate enough to visit Saint Emilion last year and you’re right, it really is astonishingly beautiful. Certainly, worthy of plenty of pinterest photos! The entire place just exudes that very specific French charm
Truly!
I have never been here and it just looks magical. I like its historic look and architecture. You are lucky to see its beauty in person
