Gloomy Day at Arcachon

I am always in need of vitamin sea so I booked a roundtrip train ticket to Arcachon.

There are a few ways to get to Arcachon: train, bus or car. I took the train to get there and the first thing on my itinerary was to visit the Dune du Pilat. The bus going to the dune is just outside the train station. Look for Bus 1 which will take you directly to the Dune.

Dune du Pilat is one of the largest Dune in the world and the tallest sand dune in Europe. You have to take a few hundred steps to get to the top of the dune. From the top, you can see the whole bassin of Arcachon and behind you is a luscious forest. Unfortunately, it was a gloomy day when i visited. It rained hard before I could get to the bus stop. Thankfully, they have a few stores and a restaurant where I took shelter while I wait for the rain to slow down.

When I got back to the town, I bought a ticket for the Le petit train d’Arcachon. It’s a small train that gives an audio tour around ville d’hiver (winter town). After the short trip, I went to the beach while waiting for my train.

I would certainly come back here and see more of the town on a good weather.
